Ciara is an award-winning journalist, presenter and social media editor.
The Irish native has been with BBC News in the UK for the last 12 years and is currently a social news editor overseeing some of the largest social media news accounts in the world. This includes BBC News on Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube, X, Facebook, Whatsapp and Linkedin to over 230 million followers. She manages a global digital news team with hubs all over the UK, in Washington DC and Singapore.
You may have also seen Ciara presenting on BBC News digital platforms to millions of views. Her interview with Sir David Attenborough went viral when she asked him what animal he would be for a day? (Answer: A sloth!). She has reported live from major breaking news stories including the Westminster and Manchester attacks.
Ciara has a keen interest in women’s health and presents BBC News Instagram lives on topics like endometriosis, PCOS and Perimenopause.
Before her current role, she was a journalist with BBC World TV News, BBC Breakfast TV and LBC Radio. Originally from Cork, Ciara started her career in Ireland at Newstalk radio, had her own breakfast show on Radio Kerry, worked for RTE, and even did a stint at Australia’s ABCNewsRadio.
